Program Benefits

  • Newly Created: Either a new suite or a newly built laneway house; renovations to existing rental suites do not qualify.
  • Self-Contained: Includes a kitchen and full bathroom.
  • Location: Situated within one of the approved municipalities.
  • Property Value: Located on a property with a BC Assessment value below $2.15 million.
  • Building Permits: Must have received a building permit issued on or after April 1, 2023.
  • Rental Agreement: Must be rented out at below market rates for no less than 5 years.

Must be a Canadian citizen or legal resident of Canada.

Must currently reside in the property where the suite will be built.

Income

Combined gross income of all registered owners must be less than $209,420 in the previous tax year.
